what transmission can I use in my 01 se????PLEASE HELP!!!

Exclamation what transmission can I use in my 01 se????PLEASE HELP!!!

I am trying to find out what transmission that i can use in my car. I want a direct bolt up. Is it possible to take it from an earlier year? I know that they are compatable with buick lasabres but what is the year spread??? Please help

Starting point , is to look at the ID tag on the Tranny, which is a 4T65-E
there is a first generation and second and use two different gear ratios, although, it is most likely 286ratio

It is a 4t65e, but i was wondering if i can take it from a different car as long as it is a 4t65e

There can be differences between different years. The harness may be different.

Go to Midas or similar, for a free brake check
While it is up in the air, crawl under and get the code of the RR of the tranny

then go to a salvage yard site like Car-part.com
They will usualy list which ones cross and sometimes the tag ID

The gear ratio can also be found on the RPO sticker in the trunk.

In the past I've found car-part has a great interchange...2001 is it'* own year that won't cross to any other years though.
