water on accesory belt?
When I drive through a large puddle, I hear a squeaking noise coming from the engine for a few seconds afterwards. I think it'* water getting on the accesory belt, causing it to slip. Is this cause for concern? Will the slipping cause premature wear? My previous car, a '90 Lumina, had a plastic splash guard underneath the belt. I don't see anything like that on this car. Does anyone else have this happen to them? The car is an '03 SE.
No cause for concern. The slipping will cause extra wear, but since it is slipping on water, you may only loose a minute or two of belt life.. so no cause for concern. Just keep out of the puddles! When my belt is on it'* last limb, when the car is started in the morning, when the humidity is high, or if it had been raining, or whatever.. as long as it had a little moisture on the belt, the car would let off a squeel for the first few seconds while the water was removed.

my bonneville has done this every since i got it. it'* very annoying. everytime it'* wet out or raining when i come to a stop the belt slips. i've replaced the belt twice, no help. it slips on the altenator, if you switch to the battery setting on your DIC (if u have the ssei) the volts drop down to around 12.
Yup mine to. when it rains heavy on this road home the puddle reaches across the hole
2 lane road. I drive in the center for less water but she still gets wet and squeels.
I put her in nutral for a sec and it stops.
