Turn off traction control

There are some times when you just need to spin your tires.... it's a fact,
but on my 2000 SLE traction control is there all the time. Is there a way to turn it off by adding my own switch, or is it another computer controlled item in the bonnies

you must be refering to the abuse parameters in the computer that cut off the engine after the wheels start spinning. the easiest way to get around this is to pull your ABS fuse (in the panel under the back seat) Or put a cut off switch in line with it if you so desire.

If you pull your ABS fuse, everything else goes out as well. Are there factory wires that I can splice into ?

razyfoo 12-17-2005 08:12 PM

ahh yes, they are all under your carpeting, but good luck finding the exact wire.... its a mess

Disconnect one WSS. Done.

If anyone can tell me the colour&stripe and the gage and the possible location, I've got the time to do it. I dont have the schematic for it yet

Put a switch inline with one of the wires from your left front WSS. You can find the wire quite easily.

WSS= Wheel speed sensor...just in case :D

Kaddy, the intent of wiring in a switch to the left front WSS is to introduce a fault in the ABS.

yes, the WSS are quite self explanitory, if you have your wheel off, there is a connector going to the wheel hub/steering knuckle.. just cut and put afuse in line with one of those wires
