Trunk Inflator Retrofit--Is this Possible?

Was working on lubing my intermediate shaft (separate post w/pics) and decided to tear into the air pump under the car. Took off the heat shield and snapped some pics. Hopefully, this will give someone an idea of what would need to be done for a retrofit.
I found the "blue tube" in the trunk as well. The blue part is actually just a cap in the grommet to block it off. No air hose at all. I'd say an air hose does run through this grommet on the inflator-equipped cars however.

That hose that T'* off and goes up to the body. I have that same scenario on my 97. The hose had decayed badly and I replaced. It didn't seem to effect anything though.
