Default Transmission Noise

The transmission on my 2000 SSEi died in January. After a lot of effort, I succeeded in getting GM to cover the repair...even though the car was out of warranty. They put a rebuilt unit in, and away I went.

Since day one with the new tranny, I have noticed a brief "buzz" coming from down below as I decelerate through about 17MPH. So, everytime I'm about to stop....buzzzzz for about 1/2 of a second. I have had the car back to the dealer twice trying to get rid of the noise. They tell me it is definitely transmission related, but there is nothing they can do and that I shouldn't worry about it. They have tried moving some cables around, but nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any idea what this sound may be? I'm assuming that something is resetting around 17-18MPH, but I don't know what it is

Thanks//

Jim

Now I don't know what moving some wires around would have accomplished??

There are a number of things that cause a 'buzz' sound.
Bad O-ring, sticky solenoid, torque convertor harmonic, etc.

Does there seem to a problem in shifting either up or down?
Whats the condition of the tranny fluid?

The transmission seems to be working fine, although it doesn't always drop in and out of overdrive very smoothly. I'm still running the original fluid that was put in w/ the rebuilt tranny. I have about 10K miles on it. It looks fine to me.

Also, I forget to mention originally that the noise seems to worsen when the tranny is cold. It'* still there when warmed up, just not as noticeable.

Mine has done a similar thing since I bought the car used. It occurs about the same speed, is barely audible, and sounds similar to what i hear when the stabilitrak system kicks in. I think a question posted back on March 29th "noise while slowing down" covered something similar. No solution was posted however. I think this link will show the post.

Update; I took my car back to the dealer today to have this mystery noise checked for a third time. They contacted Pontiac technical support, who told them that there is no problem and no solution, but if they try to fix it... the problem will become more noticeable.

Maybe I'll figure out what that means.

It means they don't know and don't want to spend any money on it until the noise presents a concrete problem.
