Default Transaxle after hitting deer

2001 SSEi we hit a deer approx 65 mph, it bounced ahead and then we ran it over. after body repairs now the trans is slipping. any thoughts?

could be a seperate incident, I don't think there is too much to mess up on the bottom of the tranny, its definately not from the impact because I hit one doing 85 and didn't have any mechanical problems

Check your trans fluid. If it'* slipping, many times it'* just low fluid or a plugged up filter. So you may need to do a filter change.

Like Danthurs recommended that would be your easiest check and repair. But, you may also want to jack the car up and take a look at the underbelly. It'* possible you may have got some 'venison' parts stuck in various locations and or some damage to wires or sensors. When you roll an animal of that size with the limited clear height of your car...it'* not uncommon to have some other things get tweaked from the underside.

Update:

I checked the fluid, looked strange, bad color, foamy, but hopefully good news: after talking to the insurance co. it is back at the shop. Apparently the oil is 'burnt', something to do with the connection to the radiator is my guess.

Sour note though, the rental we got is a Taurus (grrrr), probably going to change cars tomorrow

Check to make sure you don't have coolant in the trans. If you have foam in the fluid, that can make it shift funny. problems getting pressure with air in the fluid.
