tranny is worse when it gets wet
hi..i have been looking on this forum since i got my bonneville in october, and it has helped me out alot. thanks so much. I have tried to search for the problem I am having with my car, but I can't find it, so I decided to post my problem.
My car has a lot of miles on it..145,000. It'* a 2001 SE. About a week or two after I got it, I noticed that there was something wrong with the transmission. I couldnt take it back to the place where I got it, b/c there was no warranty.
Anyway, so I took it in to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. the fluid was brown! That seemed to take care of the clunking noise when I would push on the gas pedal. But it still shifts hard sometimes, mostly the lower gears. It doesnt do this all the time. Also, when it is raining or my car gets wet for a different reason, it seems a lot worse.
I just got the fuel pressure control fixed b/c it wasnt starting very well and when I would accelerate, it would hesitate/misfire. After I got that fixed it is a lot better, but it still hesistates just a bit sometimes. It is only when I accelarate and usually at about 50-58 mph. then it stops.
I looked at the engine trouble shooting guide, but there is so much to check. I am just wondering if someone can narrow it down. I was told I need to get my tranny flushed and maybe that will solve the problem too. I havent done that yet tho.
thanks!

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum.
You pointed out that your trans fluid was brown when changed. You may need to have the fluid and filter changed again because only about half is drained when you change a filter. How does the fluid look now?
You should also check the trans mounts,

The fluid is red and fine now. I will check the trans mount. What should I look for if it'* bad? rusted?? Also, do you think I should change my fuel filter? I havent checked it yet to see if it'* dirty. Now that I looked over the engine troubleshooting guide again, it seems it was misfiring not hesistating.
thanks for you help. I noticed you reply to a lot of threads and you are very knowledgable. When I take my car to my friend to fix, he can't believe how much I know. It'* all because of this .

This one here can cause a shutter if it'* disconnected.
For a misfire you can change your spark plugs, check your wires, test your coils.
thanks for the compliments. I try to help when ever I can.
