Not to me it'* not. but then...I don't pull the trans out to swap fuses. (c'mon..it'* been a year, it'* funny now)
Swapping a trans takes me (at my place) about 6 hours. Dropping the subframe and doing it in place takes about 3 hours. Less if things have been apart recently.

Had a transmission shop look at the car yesterday. He diagniosed a stripped 4th shaft and recommended a rebuild. 2200 bucks! That is a little much for a car with a trade in value of 1800 bucks.... Looking at buying a salvage transmission and swapping out. I do not want to put another transmission with the weak splines in, if I can help it. Does anyone know if a 2003 up transmission will fit?

Thanks, Michael! I am leaning towards driving it until the tranny grenades... In addition to the transmission, I am looking at a new DS CV axle, both hubs, and I am starting to seep oil around the UIM... It also needs new paint. I can do everything but the tranny myself, but it is just too much for this car... I hate to say it, but I think I will start looking for new wheels...

If you have a garage and some basic tools you can swap a trans. Call local salvage yards. Found one around here last year for $500. Jack the car up as high as you can on stands, support the engine from the top, remove the sub frame, remove a few wires and cables, a mount, 5 bolts, the 3 torque converter bolts and crack the seal. Lower the trans with a floor jack and it'* out. Reverse for putting it back in. May take you all weekend, but will save you a ton.
