Traction control
Recently I was at the drags with 'Sweet Cherry' and thought I was turning off the traction control, but after reading a few posts here and some tips at the Intense site I find that im not.
So the question is how do you disable the traction control in a 2000+ bonni? Do I have to get a custom chip or is there a wire or procedure to bypass it?
Also what are some tricks that I can do hook up better at the launch? Still on street tires this year but next year I will to go to drag slicks.

By turning off the switch, you are delaying when the traction control will eventually come on if the computer still senses wheel spin. From what I have read (and experienced), that can be several seconds. If you have properly heated up your tires, you shouldn't have to worry about too much wheel spin during a launch. You should be grabbing traction long before the ECM thinks that the tires are spinning.
As far as totally disabling the traction controls, that is in debate right now, in as much as what kind of wiring mod'* may need to be done. It doesn't sound as simple as pulling a fuse or installing a jumper wire.

Thanks Jay,
I didnt notice any loss of power drag racing on the weekend so the traction delay is correct. Does the discussion Jay revolve around the Ecm? I would think you could program around it since the computer is controlling everything else?
What about a torsion arm or traction bar that would apply more preasure to the front end enabling it to hook up quicker?

I don't know if any of the aftermarket programming available specifically tries to shut off traction control. I think that would be cool (as long as you could still turn it back on when you wanted it).
You are somewhat handicapped in this series of Bonneville. Some of the changes for 2000+ are not good for drag racing. For example, relocating the battery under the back seat really hurts us. By moving 50 lbs back 8-10 feet in the car was like taking 200 lbs off the front of the car. Don't get me wrong, these big heavy cars can still hold their own. But they will never be as fast as a Grand Prix (assuming the same mod'* are done to both cars)...there is too much weight difference to make up.

Couldnt we compensate by removing rear weight and adding some to the front? Since in traditional drag racing (rwd) they highly modify the rear end, wouldnt a fwd setup require some setup?
Taylor, Sweet Cherry is all stock, with tire spin the best I got last weekend was 10.2 in the 1/8th mile. My wife had a dial in of 10.3, overall the car consistant all weekend, we got rained out on sunday and had to cancell the race :( I have another meet Sept 6&7 and would like to break 10 sec 1/8th, I feel if eleminate the wheel spin and hook up quicker I'll get there stock.

I hear if you take off the drivers side rear tire there'* the control for the air shocks. You need a 13mm I beleive you can change the setting and make the back end pump all the way up, so weight transfer at launch will be much firmer. pretty sure it was the drivers side, do a search here, I know badssei posted this info here somewhere.

That'* not a bad time.
I didn't race my Bonne this year but I ran my Firebird a couple of weeks ago and finished the 1/8 mi at 9.1 sec.
I was surprised that there wasn't one single GTP or any other car with a Supercharged 3800.
Mostly trucks around here with big blocks and 60-70 muscle cars.
The ricers were running in the low 10 sec range.....except one WRX that posted an identical to my 9.1 sec time. :?
I ended up losing out to a 2000 Ford Lightning Pick-up truck who also posted 9.1 sec.
I really don't want to run the Bonne until is gets a little more pumped up. Wouldn't want to be embarased by getting beaten by trucks and ricers.

I tried it but I think the 2000+ models are different from BadSSEi'* 99 model because it is not adjustable.

10.2 is pretty fast for a completely stock SSEi in the 1/8 mile. With a better launch you could probably get to 9'*, but thats fast anyways! Hell, our GTP has only run a best of 8.1 in the 1/8 mile, and it is supposed to be a lot quicker than a Bonneville stock, and on top of that it has hella mods! Seeing that, I would say your Bonneville is pretty quick, now mod the hell out of it and run 8'*!!!
