I purchased a used thrasher intake. I had to customize it some because even if I just trimmed it. It would have covered half the hole on the fender. So, as you tell I added some extra panels to take care of it.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but why does it matter if it is a K&N filter or a K&N "style" filter? They all flow the same anyways. Some actually flow BETTER than the K&N.

I was just curious...geez. My filter is a K&N, and the one in his pictures looked a little different.

When I was purchasing my Thrasher setup, the place that I ended up buying it from cautioned me while shopping: A lot of vendors sell the Thrasher CAI with a 9" K&N "style" filter, and not a K&N filter.- I did'nt like the verbage they were using for selling their product, found it to be a little dishonest; since I was looking for a K&N filter.

I am not getting into a debate about different filter air flow, and which one is better. As far as I am concerened anything after-market is an improvment. I hope you were'nt looking for an argument: I hate to disappoint.

You did a good job sealing it up and mounting the PCM low enough to make full use of the fender hole. Now wrap it up with some insulation to keep it even cooler. You woudl be surprised, on a hot summer day idling in traffic, how much it heats up inside that engine bay. Can you say 200*F :!:

There is nothing wrong with some other quality brands of cone filters. K&N are sometimes overrated.....and overpriced. :wink: Viva competition. :lol:
S&B beat them to the punch with their open ended design and they have flow tests to prove they flow as much if not more than K&N.

I wasn't looking for an argument, I was just curious why you were asking because some people are tricked into thinking that the K&N is going to flow better, when in reality all of the K&N style filters flow nearly the same as and sometimes even better than the K&N filters, and with the K&N filter you usually are just paying for the name.

That intake looks nice.

Do you notice the difference from stock?

I'll let you know but it will be hard to really tell about the intake mod because I haven't started the engine for the last month since I started the shift kit, intake seal and header job. A lot of changes all at the same time. Guaranteed there will be an improvement. :wink:
