Default taking out headlights

well, tonight i tried taking out the headlights out of my '04 because i wanted to clear the corners on them. i took out the 2 obvious bolts that are located on the top of the lights, but i was kinda confused on why the headlights were remaining hung-up around the turn signal area.

so i got to looking around and i found that there is some sort of plastic clip holding onto the corner of the headlights. what is the easiest way of taking these headlight out??

the only thing i can think of doing, and i kind of experimented with this idea, but i jacked up the front of the car, took the driver'* side front tire off and took out the plastic inner fender well. unfortuately, i ran out of daylight, but is this the best way to get to that plastic clip in order for me to get my headlights out??

there is a ball joint that goes in that plastic clip.
grab hold of the light with both hands and pull straight out. you will need to pull with some force.

dont be afraid......... PULL

Theres probably a bit of dirt in there, you can rinse it first to free it up.

WAIT! before you tug and pull it out, slip a piece of cardboard under the lens to protect the plastic bumper from being scratched...I learned this the hard way and my poor car has scars to prove it.

alright, so i just got done clearing the driver'* side front headlight; looks great, no problems!

i just took out the passenger side headlight and that little ball joint broke off inside of that plastic piece. i'm sure that ball joint is a pretty important piece so i'm going to superglue it back into place and am going to hope that it will be enough to hold.

any other suggestions about what i should do to fix that broken ball joint??????

I had that same issue getting it out on the pass side, also broke the ball joint. Bolted back in, no problems...
