Default Supercharger belt tensioner pully bolt- Questions??

I had some difficulty replacing the supercharger belt last time as the tensioner pully torx bolt was in the beginning stages of becoming stripped. Although I got the belt on, I'd like to get a replacement bolt now before I need it later.

I know it is reverse threaded. I called two dealers, and they both told me they don't sell the bolt and that I have to buy the whole tensioner assembly. I read on here that some owners were able to order a bolt, but didn't post the part number.

Alternatively, it has been suggested to simply buy a reverse threaded hex bolt at a hardware store. I would rather have the bolt in hand before I try to pull the old one out. I'd like to get one except I don't know how long the bolt is. Does anyone here know? I understand it is a 15mm head.

Any input would be very much appreciated.

I have a 15mm tensioner one as a spare for myself and can measure it tonight.

Although.. if you go to the dealers and have the parts guys look at the exploded diagrams...they should be able to find that bolt.

Or you could stop by a junkyard and get the tensioner bolt off any 3800 with the reverse threaded tensioner. They will probably laugh when you try and pay for it.

I've been in the same situation, It'* a huge pain. I went to the dealer and we looked over the exploded diagrams and they ended up ordering me a bolt for the front SC idler pulley, and it was right hand thread to boot. So i went back and we looked over more diagrams and they called some people and told me the same thing; that bolt is not available separately. I couldn't find any reverse thread metric bolts at the hardware stores around here. Your best bet is to get a tensioner bolt off a GTP, because for one reason or another they were blessed with the 15mm hex bolt while the Bonneville was given the Torx.

BTW, thanks Boost. My tensioner bolt is still going strong.

GTP, Bonne, Park Ave....any of the 3800 cars with a series 2 motor have at least 1 tensioner you can get the bolt off.
