Default Stupid windows

3 days ago. Passenger side window will not roll down.
2 days ago. Passengerside window will roll down.
yesterday. Both front windows will not roll down.
Today. Driver side will not roll down, passenger side will.

What is going on?
I am about to take my doors apart to dynomat and install speakers, should I change to motors?
But it either will work, or wont, no in-between.

sounds like it may be the switch or a ground..especially if both of them are acting up..THEN working again.

then theres that "box" in the door that is sorta in the middle of everything, I'd check all the connections and make sure they are clean and free of corrosion.

Could you hear a click in the door when they were not working? If so, that would indicate that the switch and door module are working properly. There have been some issues with the front windows where they get bound up mechanically. Sometimes a good jolt frees them up. Besides what Hans already mentioned, when you have the doors apart, remove the 3 screws that hold the motor onto the regulator assembly, and see if that frees things up some. Then use a good silicone based lube and try to work it into the area where you removed the motor. Put the motor back in, lube up the slide on the regulator and run the window up and down a few times to spread the lube around. Apply more lube as needed.

Thanks guys,
Yes it does click. I'm not sure what I would be looking for but im sure I would figure it out when the door panel is off. I would be real mad if it was warm out.
It happened in the drive through to KFC. I felt like an idiot.

Once you get the door panel off, you'll know what you're looking at. I had that happen on 2 00 SSEis. One "fixed" itself, and the other has been fine since I removed the motor and lubed it up.

The thoughts behind putting the window switches on the door where they can get wet just irritates me personally. By the sounds of it the connections are corroded or the switch might be a problem. I killed 2 of them in my Monte Carlo from rain and snow getting into the switch and frog they weren't cheap.

I would check the connections etc.

I had a passenger window do this on mine. I just did what Dick, Archon, mentioned. I just pulled it all apart and reassembled. It'* been working fine for almost a year now. Hopefully that'* all you'll need.

Wanted to follow up on this and say that what you guys told me worked perfectly.
Took the motor apart when I installed my components yesterday, and now it works like new.
Thanks!

One trick that I learned is to hold the button down while shutting the door. Almost always works and gets it going again.
