The gasket you want is a circular rubber-like thingy. It looks like this:


As I said before, it'* pretty simple. Make sure to torque the bolts back to their proper specs. Other than that, good luck! Should take you about an hour, two tops

At $3.49+ a gallon, the gas peddle is certainly hard everywhere. However, I think you are referring to the gas "pedal".

All,

I finally had time to rip it apart. Everything went well until it was time to remove the heat shield. Mine appeared to be welded around the cross-over pipe. It wasn't going any where.

Not being able to remove that thing made it impossible to remove the front throttle body bracket and without being able to remove that bracket, it was impossible (for me anyway) to remove one of the three TB bolts.

I settled for going in through the air-intake. (The honeycomb screen held up well through the removal/re-installation process) I was able to get the TB clean enough that the pedal feels fine now. Time will tell how long it stays that way.

I did scare the bejesus out of myself when cleaning the idle air control. I pulled too hard on the shaft and it came all the way out. I was amazed to find it out it was a lead-screw. (We use those at work, but they're much bigger)

Anyway, I thought I better shove it back in, first without the return spring installed, just for test-fitting purposes. That wasn't smart. It went all the way in, and I couldn't pull it back out. I then had a brain-storm that maybe if I plugged it back in to it'* connector and started the car, it would screw itself out. It worked !!!

I then put everything back together and she started fine. I had to reset the "Check Engine Soon" condition that was caused when I started the engine with the MAF and the IAC hanging loose under the hood.

By the way, I'm quickly learning why you guys use those acronyms when typing these messages. Sure saves alot of time. Thanks everyone for the help.
