Default Sticking throttle

Hey guys:

I did a search and couldn't come up with anything specific to the issue I'm having.

Several times a week, the throttle on my car sticks in the closed position. It only happens after it'* sat for about 30 minutes to an hour after being driven a while.

It takes a hard tap on the pedal to break it free, then it works fine, no sticking in any other position.

Does this sound like time for a throttle body cleaning? I bought this car used so I don't know it'* history.

'02 Bonneville SE N/A, 121k.

Thanks

the throttle body should probably be cleaned, but i would most likely look at the pedal assembly itself or the cables if it'* sticking that hard.

Clean the throttle body. You will be amazed at how much crap is built up in there. Your pedal will be smooth and free afterwards.

Yes clean it, but don't do like I did and remove the throttle plate to try to make it easier to clean. I couldn't get it realigned and mine started to stick afterwords I ended up buying a complete used throttle body off ebay to fix my f-up.

How do you recommend cleaning the gunk off the side of the throttlebody?

Remove the honeycomb, spray cleaner inside, use a cloth on a wooden stick?

Or remove the throttlebody and clean and then replace the gasket between the throttlebody and the UIM?

I've had the sticking he describes. It can be pretty brittle feeling at times. I cleaned mine on the car with air intake cleaner from CRC. But ayear later the sticking has returned occasionally.
