When I am turing, I can turn left with no noise. As soon as I come back to center, then start going right, I get a loud whine.... only once I am right of center. Any ideas?

Probably better described as a groan, or moan?

Start by checking your fluid level in the pump. There are a few possible causes...a bad pump, a bad rack, or replacing the inlet house that GM has a technical service bulletin on. This is a thread with a similar problem, but no resolution was given.
