Finally took the car back to the dealership where they agreed to replace the sensor for free. So hopefully I wont be bothered with it again...........for a while anyway! Thanks for all the info on the problem.

Joe.

Very weird! I experienced the same exact thing driving home 3 days ago on the interstate. I hit the reset button and the light has not reappeared. I did lube the steering 1/2 shaft last summer. For about 4 days in a row that light would come on intermittently when I was backing up with the steering wheel turned 30 degrees or so. Each time it occured I'd hit the reset button and it would go away until the next instance. After that little bit of excitement the problem has not reared its ugly little head until now. Actually I'd forgotten about it until I read your post this evening cause the little creep has crawled back into his lair for awhile... hopefully.

Thats what I was doing as well, just kept resetting. But my warranty was about to run out (which it has now) so I took it back to the dealership hoping they'd replace it for me, wasnt sure if they would do to it being a sensor and my warranty was only good for engine/drivetrain. They didnt want to, but they couldnt find any managers to tell them that they couldnt replace it for free, so they just went ahead and did it (after 5 hours of making my dad wait in the lobby for approval ) So hopefully I'll have some trouble free driving for a while. Best of luck to you guys with yours. By the way, I have no clue what it would've cost if I would've had to pay for it.

Joe.

Had this message - dealer replaced control module $930. "Service SCS" light doesn't come on anymore. BUT Low Trac light comes on intermittently, and system pulses left front brake. Very upsetting when doing 70 on the Interstate straight, dry, and level, Dealer can't replicate problem, as it only happens every 10 or 15 minutes, problem doesn't throw any codes. I decided to replace both wheel speed sensors and bearings - bearings had some play. $847. Didn't fix problem. I am UPSET!! Does the steering wheel sensor give any codes? Think that my next step? POS is a 2001 SSEi Bonny that has also had the famous manifold gaskets replaced. It'* also my 10th and last GM car.
