Ditto on imidazol post.. My 03 has had the Steering Position Sensor also replaced.. That is the most common fix to the Service Stability System error.

It will come on again.. Just who knows when..

I drove thru a rather large snow drift this winter, and my SSS light came on several times after that....I think it was just becuase there was snow packed in the wheel well. Maybe you just had something cluttered in the wheel well, and it tripped the SSS light.....I dunno, just a thought.

i am used to having my SSS on, along with the TRAC OFF, and ANTI LOCK lights on.. its weird when they turn off intermediately...

you lose ABS when the system is off... be careful...

i have learned to drive better without ABS than with i think

Not in all case haro, a bad steering wheel sensor will not disengage ABS, but if your ABS light come"on" in same time then yes your right.( but thats the WSS)

In case of the light come on when drifting and get back to normal is probably because it moved the wire on the WSS and may be the wire is not fully plugged or begin to wear.

Mine do that on a big bump.

Bad part is it has to be setup with a tech II : customer can't just install it themself.

Am I correct on that?

Well, the message has not come back on.......yet. So if it'* just an interrmittent thing I can learn to deal with it, but just out of curiousity, about how much would the dealer charge to replace this sensor?

Joe.

I'm thinking it would be a costly repair. There is some disassembly of the steering column, and precautions must be taken with the SIR system. The sensor is located on the column near the firewall.
