Default service stability system

I have the Service Stability System problem. It first happed intermittently, now it is on all the time. I have read the threads and am aware of the most likely causes, but I want to do a scan to pull codes and narrow it down. I borrowed a friend'* cheapy OBDII scanner, and it did not detect any error codes.

Here are my questions.

Is there such a thing as body codes versus engine codes? Is it possible the cheapy scanner only detects engine codes? Would the Service Stability System issue be related to a body code? What type of scanner do I need to detect all codes?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. This forum is an awesome resource.

Unfortunately you need a Tech2 scanner from the dealer to be able to scan codes like that. A simple OBD2 scanner will not read the body codes.

The SSS light is probably on because of a bad wheel speed sensor, a bad steering wheel position sensor, some bad wiring, or many other things.
