Default Service Stability System

Changed oil this past weekend by putting the car up on ramps. Today, wife drives the car and the "Service Stability System" came on. On the return trip, it was off. Am I seeing another warranty issue coming, or have y'all seen this after doing some kind of maneuver such as putting your Bonny on ramps?

Pat

Pat, I've never heard of any problems with ramps & the Stabilitrak System. The only thing that would be remotely associated with Stabilitrak would be the front wheel speed sensors I think, not completely sure. I'll look in the FSM when I get the chance. Extremely busy tonight.

it sounds like a wheel speed sensor wire came loose like another member has mentioned.

I am glad it didn't stay on, but I was sure thinking back to the oil change all day, what I could have done. I remember when the oil filter came down, it splashed a couple drops of oil towards the Right Front wheel. HOPEFULLY, it was a fluke.. I don't want to have to do warranty work. Pat

nope,i dont think this is a speed sensor, i get this code alert "service stability system"

i got my car to the dealer and its a sensor behind steering wheel, (steering wheel positioning sensor) the sensor that detect the position of the steering,

and when alert come on, the electronic steering system is disabled.

the sensor is 78$ canadian + 1 hour labour.

hope this help

and for the speed sensor(in wheels) its the "ABS" light that will come on..
i know it because it happen to me

(note..: the steering will still run good, its just the electronic thing disabled, i run with mine
disabled like 6 month)

i got practically all available problem relative to bonnie on my car.

BUT.. i still love her, she never feel that good.. now! (everything repaired)

Yeah Mike, I think your on the money with the steering wheel position sensor. I just haven't looked at the Stabilitrak system lately. Good call & possibility.

As stated above, this is typically a WSS going bad or a hub which has the WSS installed. The WSS are located in all 4 wheel hubs and disconnecting just one will cause this to trip. There is also the sensor in the steering column but that is less likely to be the cause.

and the "ABS" light was on.(i got 2 bearing changed since i got the car -with the sensor- , always ABS light come on)

im not trying to tell you are not right but wondering if they made the right diagnostic?!

may be you can get both? :?

my car run well now tought.

This sounds to me like a wheel hub/ sensor on its way out. I hope not! I've repalced three of them on my car.
