Default Rumbling engine noise and leaks

I have a 2001 Bonneville SE with around 140,000 miles on it. Lately (the last month or so) the engine has been making a low rumbling noise when it shifts into any gear above 2nd (it is an automatic but I notice when it shifts). It sounds like a racecar, but probably NOT in a good way. Anyone have any ideas?? Yes...the check engine light is on. Also, I have a phantom leak, whenever it rains heavily my back passenger floor (behind and under the driver) floods. I also get ALOT of water collected in my tail lights and trunk....any ideas on this as well?? I feel like I should just go buy a new one. :(

Hi and welcome...

The noise could be an exhaust leak when the front mount flexes. With the hood up and engine off, rock the car back and forth. Does the engine lift in the tront? That would be the typical bad motor mount, likely the cause of the noise.

Please get the code read and report the number back here. That'll be the best way to help you fix it. Don't buy parts..just get the code.

Welcome to the land of fishbowls. Do a search for door water deflectors and you should find many details about how to reseal them to stop the water from coming in.

These are the codes Autozone gave me.

P01404
-EGR valve stuck open condition
Either
-Failed EGR valve OR Carbon Blockage of the pintle.

So...what does this mean???
