But what'* the difference between a regulator and a motor?

The drivers window on my 97 doesn't work when it'* hot outside (like if the suns been beating down on it) does that sound like the regulator or the motor?
Think of the regulator as the transmission, the part that turns and winds up the cable. The motor needs no explanation :P

sounds like a bad motor. Maybe some bad contacts or something strange somewhere.. the regulator and motor are attached though I think and you buy them as one unit?

I know they're seperate 92-99, And I wouldn't doubt that the regulator may be the problem. Merlin, Pop the door apart and clean the heck out of the motor connections and put some white lithium grease on the regulator. You'll see the ares that need grease, they have a black grease from the factory.

Thanks for the clarification. 92-99 was the only year of Bonneville I never had any power window problems with so I never had to work on them. The 87-91'* became ultra slow so they needed lubing, and the 2000+ have the breaking regulators. .

I haven't heard of 92-99 problems.
