Default '02 SSEI Ebay window regulator review

I just got done replacing the Rear Passenger window regulator/motor with one I purchased off ebay. I paid $53 total shipped. I am not at all impressed with this unit. The part number is 1552-6510R with an alternate part number 135-1801. Install was a breeze. If you are in a search for a cheap working unit without caring about speed or noise levels. This is the unit for you, but thats as far as it goes.

It is unbearably loud. The motor has an extreme vibration compared to the GM motor/regulator. It is bad enough that the vibration sound echoes throughout the car. It operates but not as smoothly or quickly as the GM version.

I am looking into rebuilding the factory one if I can follow Archon'* method of repair. One alternative is swapping out the motors with the new/aftermarket window regulator/motor from the factory one.

I was/am very happy with how sturdy this car feels. Even the windows have impressed me with the smoothness, quickness, and quietness of them. The feeling on the window went from a fully loaded Cadillac version for Pontiac Bonneville to a Pontiac Sunbird after the install. I know this seems harsh but I have always felt very proud on how awesome this car operates.

My suggestion is to save your money and buy a better unit than this cheap Taiwan unit. All in all. I unfortunately got what I paid for. Don't waste your money!!

Check the rubber bushings. If you have them to tight or they are not there, it will be very loud.

You may have a bad regulator. I installed both left and right rear door regulators and do not have a noise. The regulators were $102 off of Ebay with free shipping. The left regulator rolled the window up slow, but as it has broken in and weather warmer (replaced at 2 degrees) it is performing better. I was happy with the $102 purchase, fast shipping. The rear windows are not used as much as front, and the cost difference from the dealer for two regulators was over $400.

Maybe the seller will ship you a replacement?
