Default Rear windows

The other day I noticed that my rear window didn't respond when I was pressing the button and then I looked back and it slowly fell down. Then a week later, with some luck, the other one does the same thing. I had a look at them and saw that the cable broke on both of them and it seemed like it could've been caused by pulling down on the window. No one that I recall has done this.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
And the dealer wants $600 EACH for the parts because apparently you can't ust buy the cable, you have to buy the whole insert.
I pulled both windows up and clamped them so they don't stay down but I was wondering if there'* any cheaper way to fix this?

Yep - in techinfo. Are you sure that the cable is broken? What generally happens is that the top anchor pulls out of the plastic in the sled.

Not at the same time, but yes...both sides have been a problem. Yours is the first reported problem of the cable breaking. Others have wanted to replace the cables, due to them becoming kinked as they tried several times to move the window.

The closest I've been able to find that for cables that would have the proper sized and shaped anchors were bicycle cables. You may want to check at a local bike shop.
