the SC really dosent ever go bad, at most its a coupler that is rattling at idle....and that is like a 30$ part for the coupler

Jason..Can't get a motor mount.. and no go on steering position sensor.

Need to know about the rest and if you are good this weekend.

Supercharger coupler? Heck..I've got two sitting here and enough oil to fill two chargers. We can add a quick coupler swap in.

Default Thanks for all the offers to help BUT....

Hey I just wanted to say that I really thank everyone on this forum who'* helped me out in the past with questions I've had, etc. Although I never met any of you personally, I think this site is great and I really do love the Bonneville and was sad to see Pontiac discontinue the line after the 2005 model.

Unfortunately though, my warranty experience with Warranty Gold (having bought a $2,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty for 8 years or 150,000 miles) and their going backrupt 3 weeks after I purchased the warranty really hurt. I don't have warranty coverage as a result and things just keep breaking as you all know. I know that some of this is definitely doable but it'* a lot of time and effort that quite honestly, shouldn't be necessary.

Just for your interesting reading, here is what happened when I tried to literally buy the LAST NEW 2005 Grand Prix GXP in the country from a dealer in NY. Good reading if you are up for it. Then at the end, I'll tell you the deal I ended up getting.

Here'* my story. I e-mailed the dealership that had the car through the Pontiac website and received an e-mail back with a quote of $27,499 which I told you all about. That is way too high for an 05 he has had on his lot since June. After some rather hard-nosed negotiating, I got him down to $26,000 with him staying how that is really too low blah blah, they are losing money, blah blah blah. I of course wanted to trade in my Bonny. Well I told him I was driving down to Long Island to visit with my girlfriend'* family and the dealership happens to be only 20 minutes away but I needed to know if he was serious about making the deal because otherwise we always take my girlfriends' car (much better on gas). He said he couldn't even give me a ballpark without seeing the car which I told him was BS. So finally, I tell him that he can fax a sheet of paper with the agreed on price of 26K (which I still feel is a little too high but was willing to do) and a price for my trade that we agree on and sign it. In return I would put $1000.00 down over the phone and stipulate that if the trade isn't as advertised then the deal is off.

He tells us he'll call us back in a few minutes. 30 minutes later the dealership closes and the JERK doesn't even call us back at all. So obviously my girlfriend and I are livid because now we don't know whether to take my car or not so we decide to just go next weekend to her parents. She calls him the next day and pretty much chews him out for not calling us back and he HANGS UP ON HER!!! I mean she didn't curse or anything...she was just very forward about how he was extremely rude and he could have at least called us back blah blah. So she called back and he hung up on her again! So I called and said I wanted to speak to the general manager of the dealership and you could tell the girl was lying 'cuz she was like "AH AH AH" he'* out right now...this is at 9:30am about a half hour after they opened. She says she'll leave a message and have him call back.

FOUR hours later, he calls back and we just let him have hit with respect to how we're being treated, etc. He assures us he'* sorry and that he'll get us a round-about figure for the trade based on the condition that I describe and the mileage. They came back and said $3,000 for my BONNY SSEi with 100,008 miles!!!! The car is in good condition (KBB) and I just laughed my butt off. They wouldn't budge at all and even said they wouldn't sell the GXP GP for less than 26.5 now which was not the agreed to price. Then they tried saying they had "all these other people" calling about it and coming in to see it and I just laughed and told Juan that turning "lookers into buyers" is a dealership'* job and that the reason they will NEVER move that car is because they are asking way too much!

I had initially looked at the Grand Prix GXP because I figured I could negotiate a really good price but that obviously didn't happen. Since that was out of the question and Pontiac dealership were trying to only offer me 3K without budging, I decided to start looking at foreign cars with better mileage, etc.

Honda offered $5250 for my trade and 900 below invoice on a new loaded Civic. Mazda just offered me 950 below invoice and $6100 for my trade on a fully loaded Mazda 3s GT with all the accessories in their catelog AND a free extra year and 25K of warranty to take me to 5 years or 75K (up from the 4 year 50,000 that it comes with from the factory). The car is REALLY nice and the leader in it'* class and I'm leaning toward it right.

I feel bad letting you all down but I have to make the decision that makes the most sense and the truth is that I just don't trust my Bonny. I know some of you haven't had all the problems that I have but Iv'e had my Tranny go out complete, AC Compressor replaced, motor mount needs replacing, window regulator replaced twice, intermediate steering shaft replaced twice (broke again), wheel bearing replaced once (broke again), lower intake gasket leak (coolant), fog light assemlby had to be replaced because one of the bulbs melted the plastic, blower motor on HVAC needs to be replaced, on and on. If something really expensive goes like the tranny again, you guys couldn't even help me on that one and then I'm really screwed so I figure getting 6100 for her is really good.

Hopefully GM will get their act together and build better cars that you don't have to have 8 year 150,000 warranties to feel safe. I have been doing a LOT OF RESEARCH about every car you can think of to get the best value and I'd stay away from the GP GXPs too after what I found. Lots of guys in that forum are having their trannys go out with LESS THAN 10K miles....rediculous!

I'll still check in on the Bonny crowd but just wanted to let you all know what'* going on.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it...it'* gonna be really sad this week when I give her away to the dealership because I just don't know what will happen to her and I have taken immaculate care of her as you can tell from the pics...always had people asking me what kind of wax I used because the paint looked so perfect.

I really hope Pontiac brings the Bonneville back some day as they're about to do with the Trans Am to counter the return of the Camaro. I know the GP will be changing to the G8 most likely in the 2008 model year so with the Sunfire returining as the new G5 in 07 or 08, and the G6, then GP becoming the G8 in 08, maybe the Bonny will be back someday as the G9 or G10? LOL...who knows...it was the staple car in the Pontiac line-up for over 50 years!

And for those of you wanting to get a Bonny still...there are lots of 05s on dealer lots including GXPs. I hear they're really cheap considering, but I'm not sure..either way...it'll be a rare vehicle in about 10 years or so if they don't bring it back.

Thanks again for all the help....keep this site going..you guys and gals are AWESOME!

Jason
