Every time my car has had a shimmy/vibration in the front, it has been the tie rods. Just one at a time, 5 in total over a span of 160,000 miles. Also you might want to make a solid front tranny mount on the '02 SSEi, very easy to make. I have over 140,000 on the one i made and i would never go back to the stock mount.

After 92,000 vibrating miles and $1,800 worth of multiple tire brands, tie rods, end links, Road Force balances, multiple wheel bearings, etc., etc., etc. I finally got rid of all those problems. I am sad to say my Bonne is with a different owner. I hope the young guy has better luck with her than I did. I've always owned Bonne'* and have generally had great luck with them. I just could not live with the '01'* problems any longer.

To update the outcome for the question of replacing the lower control arms. I would have to say for my case it didn't help much if any at all. Even though the dealer said it helped a lot, it didn't

There is some good news though. Remember they said I needed new brakes on the front, well I did them today. I had the rotors turned while I had it apart. The guy that turned them for me said they were warped. Funny I could not feel it in the pedal at all. The dealer also supposedly checked them twice already. Anyways I go for a ride and I don't feel the vibration anymore

I don't know yet if it'* totally cured, I'm gonna have to drive it some more to tell for sure. I'm gonna go ahead and pull the rear rotors and get them turned now, might as well throw some new pads on it back there while I got it apart. Hopefully this is it

I have an '02 SSEi with the tire vibration. It started after I put on my second replacement set of RS-A'*. All the other stuff (tie rod ends, struts) were previously replaced. I brought the car to the dealer and they used the hunter tire force balancer. They said all the tires were out of round and put the worst 2 on the rear. The vibration is better but not gone completely.

It turns out Goodyear made tires that were carefully checked for out of roundness balance and were very close to factory specs for these cars when they rolled off the assembly line. They no longer make these special tires. The next set of tires will not be Goodyears.

It'* very important you find someone who knows what they are doing with the GSP9700. Unfortunately many dealership techs are not properly trained on using this device (despite it costing a dealer/shop $18,000). If you don't have luck at one dealer try contacting a Hunter technical representative via their website and ask them for a referral to a shop who knows how to use the GSP 9700.

Again, check your tire pressures. Tires become 'springs' on the highway at high speeds. Higher tire pressure alleviates this problem and helps to decrease any vibrations you may have (but you'll get a harsher ride).

Sorry to hear the control arms did not help. By the way, I'd advise your tranny problem is the Pressure Control Solenoid, it'* a very common problem on these transmissions and a $800 fix. I'm surprised the dealer did not scan for codes.

Update:

So I've been driving the car a lot these past few days and the vibration is fixed with the brake job I did on Friday The rotors were the cause. This is such a great feeling to not have the vib anymore, hopefully for good. My guess is I'll see it return someday but at least if it does I know what I'll check first.

I am so surprised at how sensitive this car is to vibration. I could not feel any pulsing in the brake pedal at all.



To update on the other things that the dealer did, so far everything is working great.
