Exclamation Power steering pump noise

Just replaced power stering pump on 2002 Bonneville SSEI.
I have put about 200 miles on the new pump and it still whines.
Also replace idler pulley and the belt is making a chirping noise.
Will the power stering whine and belt noise eventually go away.

Moved to it'* own thread.

It'* not going to get any quieter on it'* own. Some pumps just make noise. I replaced the pump on my wifes Montana and it'* still loud. As for the squeak, that you should check on. A belt shouldn't make noise. Make sure it'* travel is correct and not sitting on a pulley funny.

My 2000 SSEi has a whine too. Just swapped the fluid out and bled out the system. and is still there. Not really worried, like Danthurs said some pumps are loud. Though I feel my SC could be whining. Ive never changed that nasty fluid!

I never had to worry about the smell. I switched to 5W30 in my SC, and it got changed fairly frequently :P

Did you bleed the system after putting the new pump on? Did you use the right fluid? The squeaking belt will most likely need to be replaced.
