Default Passenger Side Power Windows

Yesterday, I noticed that the front passenger window on my car quit working. All the others are fine. It'* up, so more of an inconvenience at this time. Then today, my friend who also has a 2000 SSEi had the same thing happen. That'* just plain wierd!

Have most found this to be a problem with the motor?

I did a search, and I think that there were a couple of posts. One replaced the motor, another one lubed it up. It'* just wierd that both cars, within a day of each other, came up with the same unusual problem. Now I have to find the time to tear it apart and see what I find. Anyone know if the motors for all the windows are the same? I still have the old window regulator with motor attached from the right rear.

When you try to lower the window, do you hear a faint click over in the passenger side door? All other functions in door are operable-power mirror, door lock?

I haven't had the time to listen real closely yet...however, from what listening I did do, it'* hard to tell if I'm hearing a click from inside the door, or from the switch itself. Yes, everything else seems to work fine...the mirror, the locks. With my car, I thought it could be some shoddy work being done in the door when I had to have the mirror replaced last winter. Then, it popped up on the second car! That one was purchased just a few months ago, so I don't really know its history.

I was trying to establish that the Passenger Door Module (PDM) is receiving the serial data (request to lower passenger window) from the Driver Door Module (DDM) to close in power & ground to lower the passenger window. The PDM switches pwr & grnd accordingly to raise or lower the window. The "click" that you here is the actual PDM supplying pwr & grnd to the window motor. Since the pwr mirror & lock are functioning, it would appear as though the PDM is okay.

So, if I hear a click (having less acute hearing than my younger days I may have to have the door panel off to hear it.) it'* likely the the door module is ok and look first toward the motor being the problem? Maybe I'll give my son'* ears a job tomorrow. Once I have it apart, I'd prefer to be ready to fix it. Thank you for the information. It helps a lot.

Maybe it'* a little late, but I had the exact same problem with my car. The passenger window went first then the drivers side. Both windows were in the front. The motors more than likely aren't bad. I had a local dealer order the master switch for the front drivers door. Its a real easy swtich to change the hardest part is popping the panel out of the door. Basically just plug and play.

Now the interesting part. I had had the new switch in about 3 week or a month, and the same thing happened again. So when I got to work, I popped the panel back off and checked the plug. I found a large part of my problem has been the connector.

I plugged it in more securely and it hasn't happened since. I am however keeping an eye on it though. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Those are the four toggle switches in the driver'* arm rest? The passenger side switch won't work either if the main one is bad, or is it the main door module?

You're not too late at all. I still haven't had time to delve into it. Thanks a lot for the info.
