Default Passenger front window inop.

Now the passenger side front window has quit working. No noise when toggling the window switch. Don't believe any power is being delivered to the regulator, but I have not done any diagnostic work on it yet. It'* my wifes daily driver and she mentioned that it just quit. It is in the up position thankfully.

Anyone here had similar symptoms? What is the opinion of the majority what I should check for. I have replaced both of the rear regulators numerous times, so I do have some experience with these. I wonder if the fronts have the same problems as rears? My guess would be yes, but looking through most of the posts on this list seem to indicate that the rears are a real problem more so than the fronts.

Best advice we could give you is when the rears quit again.. use Archon'* techinfo article to fix it... lasts much longer than a new regulator.

On the fronts. Best is to test for power at it. A couple have had them stick, and loosening and retightening the motor has helped.

IIRC, we've only had one reported failure of the front window regulator. As Boost mentioned, taking the 3 screws out that hold the motor in place on the front regulator, and then putting it back in takes care of most problems with it.

When you take the motor off, hook it up and see if it spins freely. If so, the door module is ok. If you hear a faint click in the door when activating the switch, it also would show that the module is likely ok. Lube things up while you're in there if it starts working.

Thanks for the input Archon. I did hear a faint click when the window switch is activated. I'll dig ito it over the weekend and see what the problem is. I have began rebuilding the rear regulators by making a steel insert where the cable pulls through on the original crap design. I had bought 2 regulators prior to becoming agrivated enough to design my own fix. I am a Tool & Die maker and manage a tool-room with a nice variety of CNC equipment so I now repair them when they fail. I wonder if the motor for the rear regulators is the same as that used in the front? I've got a bad regulator assembly that got the cable and pulley destroyed by someone trying to get the window back up the first time it failed. If the motors from front to back are the same, I probably won't even have any out of pocket expense to repair the front passenger side window?

I'm about 90% sure that the motors are the same, front and rear.
