Default Paint Fading - mainly on hood

I have been seeing problems with the clearcoat and/or paint quality on my hood and top front fender area for the past few years, and it is steadily getting worse. (Color is midnight blue.) The finish turns "milky" and shows spots when it gets wet and is now starting to leave more spots and fading even after drying. The Texas sun can be brutal at times! Is there a TSB for paint quality for the 2001'*? The car has always been garaged except when I take it to work. I have waxed it several times, but I feel that I may be too late. Has anyone else experenced this? Might this be covered under warranty? The car is just under 6 years old, 82k miles.

Open for suggestions - detailer , repaint ?

Thanks.

Carter

ah yes the dreded "Bubbling Hood" happens to a lot of 00-03 owners not just Bonnevilles happens to Buicks and maybe Oldsmobile too. I'd take it to get repainted if it'* in the warrenty, I don't know if mine had already bee repainted when I got it (about 81k when I purchased it now around 87k) I did however, noticed the other day that my front bumper at some point in time had been reapinted.

Problem has always been there because of the poor bond of the primer with the aluminum hoods at the factory. Most GM dealers will hassle you even if it is under warranty, most members up here don't have much luck, but a few (a very few!) have.

I just put a bra on my hood to cover it up and make it so it doesn't get worse. Out of sight, out of mind, and not worth the hassle the dealer will fight you over it!
