Default Display fading

My display is fading on the left 1/3 of the display on my 05 GXP.
Is there a how-to on the radio removal? I saw one on a 2000 on this forum, Is this the same.

I had read that most likely this is just a solder that is bad.
What should I expect to pay to repair this ($100?)?
I plan on just having it repaired locally, but I would like to take out the radio myself.

Thanks in advance

Lots of us with varous years (especially the 00+ guys) have had to replace the bulb behind the LED display.

Do a search for radio bulb or similar and you should be able to find the answer.

I found this thread. It seems it could just be a bulb.

It appears that I can remove the 05 GXP radio without having it reprogrammed?
Thanks again!

Yes, that should do it.

I've changed a couple bulbs in the 97-99 models and overall it'* straight forward.

Okay, I took it in to a local stereo shop. They confirmed it'* the bulbs and not the display.
They said $135 to solder a couple bulbs in. Sounds like a lot to me.
They said it will take 2-3 days to get the bulbs.

You think Radio Shack would have these blubs... Heck, I'll just solder them myself?

Any input would be appreciated.

The Shack'* bulbs arent as bright as ours. I know there is a website that you can order the right bulbs from. I'll find it and post the link. It'* best to just replace all three bulbs while you have it open
