Default oil sending unit out?

Ok,

Have intermittent oil pressure gauge/DIC warning problem on 2000 Bonneville ssei. Have diagnosed it to the sending unit (above oil filter housing - see pic). It'* hard to tell but it looks like the plastic harness is cracked (Or there is a similiar black piece on the sending unit?). It definitely bends a little with only a little oil noticed. It'* not leaking at the oil filter body threads.) If I get under the car and wiggle the wiring the gauge goes back up to 40-80 or so.

Anyways, could it be the harness or is it more likely the sending unit (I didn't take it off incase it is the harness.....and I couldn't get it back on)? Anyways, any idea what the sending unit or a new harness piece would cost? Is it common for the sending unit to leak at that end? I'm guessing it is the sending unit. Our car always pegged 120 at idle, running etc, What should the gauge read approx. under normal conditions. The manual only says above the red zone is normal.......geez those GM engineers were helpfulin writing that manual..........

Geez these cars are wierd.............thanks in advance (again!).

Looking back it is amazing how little I said in such along post...............oh yeah, how do I post a pic? :?:

Engine at normal operating temperature, oil pressure at idle should be approximately 40 psi.

If the black part moves at all then the sending unit is broken. You can actually break the entire black plastic part off and it won't leak oil, but it surely won't work.

Un plug the sensor and it should read Max oil pressure, short the middle wire of the connector and it should read '0'.

I just replaced mine a few months ago, the little bugger is spendy just so you know, I was quoted over $90 cdn from the dealer, got it for $70 from my gm mechanic buddy.
