Default Noise in CAI

Now after a few of you have done either custom CAIs, FWIs or Thrasher intakes, is there an increase in noise from the intake when you first start the car from the engine suckin air? Now I know the airbox + cotton filter eliminated alot of the noise, Im just curious. Granted Im using a slightly bigger cone that most are using, but imput would be appreciated. Oh yea, and you can never get enough of the Whine!

That is the idle air controller (IAC) opening up. It does that until the engine warms up a bit.

Wait till winter time. It will sound like a vacuum cleaner. And wait till you get a smaller pulley ... the sound is incredible.

I really dont' like that sound the 3800 makes with an opened intake. I don't know why it'* just that engine that does it either. I have a totally gutted airbox and K&N on my shortstar and get absolutely no noise like that at idle/cold engine. the 3800 will have that sound with just a K&N filter. Is it just how the IAC is setup or what?

Im not sure, when I started my car after finishing the box and putting the insulated cover on, it sounded like my Bonne was running on a Hoover vaccum cleaner. Does the size of the filter have anything to do with it. Custom, could you shoot me some pictures of you gutted setup, I might beable to make something work with mine.

I would, but I don't think it'd help you much just because mine has the same airbox as the GXP bonneville, not the SSEi.

What you hear is normal. There is nothing to worry about. Since you have a very free flowing intake, you will hear things you normally dont hear.
