Default new engine problem

The past week or two, i've been noticing a noise coming from my engine while accelerating. The best way i can describe it is a hissing/spitting type sound like when you stick your tounge between your lips and blow hard. At times it'* almost like a sputtering and i have some loss of power when accelerating. Seems to be getting worse by the day and not really looking forward to more engine problems. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Another question, what'* the lowest the oil pressure gauge should be reading? When i'm sitting idle in gear, my oil pressure sits at the first line below 40.

Sounds like a vacum leak, check at the back of the engine along the top of the rear valve cover. The vacum line that runs from under the super charger nose to the map sensor. Mine always use to pop off there till I ty-rapped it.

It'* not a vacuum leak. It'* not a vacuum sound. It'* a spitting/sputtering type sound and my car loses power and sputters and won't go until the power comes back. Sounds like the noise is coming from the exhaust area in the back of the motor.

Have a look back there with a flsh light and feather the throttle cable with your hand.
When the engine flexes maybe the down pipe is opening some?

You were correct. I took my car to the Pontiac dealership and the spitting noise was coming from the flex-tube exhaust pipe at the motor. Also found out that i have a broken front motor mount and because of that, the flex tube is leaking exhaust. Also found out that my valve cover gasket needs replacing. I've put a couple thousand into this car already. This is starting to get old...... :(

Gawd I'm glad you got it fixed. I've been spitting crap all over my screen trying to duplicate the noise you mentioned. My wife asked me if I was having a stroke. I told her, "no", I was just trying to help some guy fix his Bonne. She just shook her head and walked out mumbling something about senility.

Spouses/significant others/girlfriends just don't seem to understand.

BoneZ - I know that mine is around 40 but I couldn't say for certain if above or below. I'll try to remember to check it tomorrow. The only spec I could find was 60 PSI at 1850 RPM with engine at operating temperature using 10w30 oil.
