Default New DIC message

Never seen this one. Says:
"Service Stability System". Any clues what that means?

Default Mind of it'* own...SSS code

I can only tell you that I've had that code show up a few times over the four years I've had my 01 SSEi and there was never anything wrong that they could find. The code would just vanish for no reason either and the shop'* could never find anything. I swear some of those codes just pop up to **** us off! LOL

Later,
Jason

It'* popped up on mine a few times also, but only when it'* been really cold outside...like 0 degrees F or so. I think it did show up once when I hit a pretty good sized pothole with the rear tire. Resetting it caused it to go away without further problems.

That showed up a couple of times randomly on our 03. It'* still under warranty so the dealer replaced the steering wheel sensor. One time was pulling out of the garage; other time was on smooth but sloping and varying slope country road.

I've had that code but never had a problem or a fix as a result of it coming up. Never has it appeared again after that. Sounds like a touchy sensor or a non issue. maybe for that one second the car couldn't figure out what to do with a wheel so it "burped" and reset????

Thats the "steering wheel positionning sensor", each time the code come on, your assisted steering system disengage. (hard to feel the difference) mine do that too.
Theres nothing dangerous there,it mean you can let it like that while you get money to repair. Its an intermittent code, but the sensor is bad.
I think this sensor is over 150$ canadian at the dealer.

If the DIC message is accompanied by the BRAKE and ABS lights on the dash then it is usually a bad wheel speed sensor (of as some have seen if it gets cold and ice collects on the sensor it can set but may go away when it heats up). The message bascially states that the stabilitrak system has been disabled for some reason.

Another possibility is the sensor in the steering column which is related to the stabilitrak system.

If you disconnect a WSS you will also get this message.
