My headlights flash when I am in park....I do not know what is causing this...It seems that they are supposed to shut off when you put the car into park, because sometimes after they flash a few times they stay off. But then there are other times that they just keep flashing and stay on. This only happens when I DO NOT have the headlights actually turned on (Headlights **** in the ON position). They are on because of the Daytime Running Lamps always being on....

Could someone please let me know what is going on? Is there a sensor that controls shutting the Daytime Runnung Lamps off when in park...or what?

Its your daylight sentinal (that little lump sticking up on your dash). If its confused it will turn your lights on and off untill the car goes into drive, usually happens at dusk or dawn when the light outside is flat.
You can turn your headlights on when you first start your car and that will get rid of the flashing.
Have the sentinal looked into at your next service.

Conditions for turning DRL on:
1. ignition sw in run
2. parking brake not set
3. transmission not in park
4. amb. light sensor indicating daytime

The high beams (placed in sereis) function as DRL'* on the 2000 -03 Bonnevilles.

My car has started doing this once in awhile as well. Isn't there a way to perm disable the DRL'*? I read something on tech info but couldn't find the item it was referring too....a pic would be much appreciated

One quick question. While this is happening, do your parking lights come on or just the headlights?

If the parking lights are coming on as well, then I would have to lean towards the Twilight Sentinel malfunctioning and away from the DRL'*...

The parking lamps do not come on, the lights just flash....and this doesn't happen at just dusk, it happens in the middle of the night....I know something is malfunctioning...I just am not sure what?

nahp...happens even when pitch black outside...its weird cuz sometimes it doesn't do it...i was thinking maybe a fuse was about to pop.

I've also had this happen, only with mine i was sitting in the Timmy'* Drive Thru at 3 in the morning (i work midnights) with my foot on the brakes when my headlights started to flash, and one other time at night. When i detailed my car a few months ago i gave the sensor on the dash a good cleaning and so far so good. This could have just been a fluke though
