Default (lack of) DIC and personalization question

Hey guys, how'* it going? On my 05 SE, I don't have the DIC, I just have the trip and tire reset buttons and the english metric button. My key fobs have 1 and 2 on the back of them.

is there some way to program the remotes to do different things, without the DIC. I ask this because I recently installed a remote start alarm and I used a bypass module that "communicates" to the car via the data bus. I am having some strange issues like, when I open the trunk using the alarm'* remote, the radio will change from cd to radio, or vice versa. The company is trying to say that since the module always poses as driver 1, this must be causing the issue.

I never use the factory fobs anymore, but I was going to check them anyway. So after RTFM, it appears that you have to have the DIC to personalize fob 1 and fob 2. Is this correct?

Thanks for your help. I did find one post from someone with an SE, and he did say that the remotes change the radio presets, depending on which one you use, but never said how to change them or if he ever did.

Jeff

I believe you need the DIC to program the different settings.

if the "other SE member" is who I think it is? he had another GM car with DIC in it.

I thought all trim levels in 05 had a DIC. I must have been wrong.

I'm at a loss for understanding here. When you bought your 05 SE, it came with remote transmitters Driver 1 & Driver 2? If that'* the case, then I'd say yes there is Driver 1, Driver 2 personalization. But it doesn't appear that you have a full blown Driver Information Center. That bypass module needs to be looked at a little closer I think.
