Intake Air Temperature sensor broken?

Intake Air Temperature sensor broken?
When I was trying to get my IAT sensor out of the stock accordian tube I snapped off the little plastic cage that surrounds the tip of the sensor. I am still currently using it. Will this be ok in the long run or should I go find a new one before something happens?
