Awhile back there was a link posted in the BC that took you to a site where you inputted your vin and it told you what updates were available for your car. When I did mine, it listed an update to the PCM to correct a slight misfire at idle. I haven't done anything with it yet, as mine is very minor and happens only occasionally. It sounds as if yours is more serious than that, but thought that I'd mention it anyway. Sorry, I don't recall which forum posted it.

My '00 SSEi idles like a dumptruck at [about 950rpms] (since I bought it, 2 years ago)compared to the L67 Grand Prix I had before it,which was electric-motor smooth at idle[at about 750rpms],......took it to the dealers when I first got the car, they supposedly reprogrammed the PCM to try to get it to idle better....the idle was the same(at the same higher rpm...and rough),....the dealership offered no more help with the problem[I asked them to turn down the idle to 750rpms....they scoffed it off...saying it wasn't really a problem at all......engines idle differently in different cars[my wife'* '01 Bonneville SE idles roughly,as well] ),........I'm not losing any sleep over it,since any engine speed off-idle and above is smooth and non-hesitate up to red-line/above,...till the governor shuts down the show,anyhow...........

It could just be the motor mounts and how they hold the engine. When you put it in gear the mounts now have a pre load on them and it keeps the engine from shaking. If it was a driveability problem like a vacuum leak or sensor, the SES light would come on. My fathers 98 idles smoother then my 00 but the motor mounts are different also. I don't lose any sleep either over it. It runs like a champ other wise

Thank you, I checked my VIN and found out this information:
12594007 12594009 N/A 0 New calibration to correct potential stall when shifting from drive to reverse under a high power steering load

My Bonneville does this at times. When i took the car in for service 8 months ago and told the dealer I had this problem, the dealer thought I was blowing smoke up his you know what.

Made a copy of the web page and will take it in to the dealer. I wonder if I will be charged to fix a known problem?

Please be aware that if you do this it will overwrite any custom code (DHP, INTENSE, etc... PCM if have it installed).

No problem Rogue as I do not have a custom PCM. But I thank you for the information. Maybe in two years I will start to do some performance mods but not while the car is under warranty.

Currently I have a DIC that needs replacement under warranty. It has been on back order since August of 04.

I have poked around the intense website and all of the mods seem to be for the supercharged engine. I have a NA 3800 in the SLE.

While it is easier to get more hp cheaper out of a boosted car, plenty of our products will help N/A cars. Rockers, cams, torque converters, PCM'* will all help your N/A car make more power. Ask Smellbird how much he likes his rocker/pcm combo
