How does one progam a key for a 2000 SLE?
2000 SLE w/ a Valet (grey) PK3 key.
Bought a blank black PK3 key on ebay & had locksmith cut to match.
Turned car to Run w/ valet key then inserted new key & turned to Run. Then to Off & try to start, doesn't work.
Repeat above by Starting car then put in new key to Run. Key still won't start.
New key to Run for 10 minutes, Security light goes out, turned to Off then to Run for 10 minutes until Security light goes out, Turned to Off then to Run until Security light goes out. Turned to Off & tried to start car, doesn't work.
Use Valet key to Start, starter clicks, battery was down, put on charger, car started with Valet key.
Both keys are PK3. One Valet (grey) & one black. How does one program a key for a 2000 SLE? :?:

originate key only if you lost your one and only key
1 insert new transponder key and turn ignition to ON position, the dashboard security light will turn on and stay on for 10 minutes
2 once the sucurity light goes out, you have on minute to begin step 3. turn ignition to OFF and then back ON position
3 repeat step 2.
4 once the dashboard security light has turnd off for the 3rd time, the key has been successfully programmed, this is now the only key that is programmed to the system and all previous electronic key codes have been erased
to make a spare ignition key
1 insert old programemd key and turn on the ignition to ON postion and then back to OFF
2 remove existing key, insert new transponder key and turn to ON position. THIS MUST BE DONE WITHIN 15 SEC.
3the dashboard security light will come on for 2 sec indicating successful programming
hope this helps you out

If one takes the time to read my initial post, one should deduce that I had already followed both sets of your posted instructions and come up empty both times. :(

Actually, if one takes the time to read your post - he answered, in detail, exactly the question that you asked! There was enough extra information included to be certain you were doing it all with the proper duration.
Try it again with a batter charger attached. A low charge on the battery can interfere with the proper programming. That is what was believed to have been the problem when mine had to be reprogrammed after the PCM update at Intense.
