Default How can I tell what transmission I have?

Can I tell via the vin number? I lost overdrive and I need to replace it. Does anyone know where I can purchase one at a reasonable price? I am not looking for a performance transmission.

Thanks

So it would not be 4T65E-HD?

Knock knock, Don, are you there?

Yes it is a 4t65e-HD, ALL SSEi'* are HD

There is a tag on the back of tha transmission that says what code it is. there are 3
ident FCB
ident FHB
ident CHB

if you are looking for a used transmission, this code needs to match.

Yes you need to jack it up.

Hopefully these three pics will give you an idea where to look for it.

I found the tag it has the same numbers and letters as the picture.

I am confused because the dealers is telling me it is the 4T65E not the 4T65E-HD. I told them that I though it was suppose to be the heavy duty model. They said it was but the part number is 4T65E.

You are both right. It'* the HD however they will probably always refer to it as the 4T65E and then use the tag letters to get the HD part.

Where are you located?
