Default horsepower upgrade question

The late model GTP is rated at 260 hp...what is the difference between that engine and my 240 hp in 2000 Bonneville?

Thinking of doing 180 themostat, homemade CAI, 3.5 or 3.4 pulley. What would be the hp after those mods? Also what if I added 1.8 or 1.9 rockers to that combo?

I am looking for mild upgrade, do not want to have to mess with engine computer... Will I get any codes with these changes?

The difference is that you have a Series II engine, and the new GTP has a Series III. It has an upgraded blower.

With those first mods, you will get around 30-35HP or so. With rockers, add about 20-25 more.

EDIT: And I'm being modest with those numbers.

The hp gains will need some exhaust work to complete. Headers, high flow cat/o2 spoof to flow the added air from the cai and smaller pulley.
You wont throw any codes with these upgrades, the only exception being the rear O2 sensor (cat) that can throw a ses light but does not effect performance. The o2 spoof takes care of the ses light and only costs $40.

By the time you do all these mods you will want to upgrade the pcm, thats where I'm at now. Removing the limiters and raising shift points is enough of an incentive for me but with the advanced timming and kr control this is like free horsepower

the stock computer will only let you go so far until it starts to be more of a hinderance than a help.

NOt a bad plan at all, That'* where I'm at.
3.4, CAI, 1.9 rockers 180 stat and a few others, The computer has never thrown a code. The car drives WAY different than stock, not sure on the #'* but it'* considerable more fun to drive.

But Pdad is right, Exhaust is next for me and can't wait for a PCM to make all the parts mingle together for few extra ponies, but to answer your question you will be fine, you'll be looking for a LSD though, car will light up them tires at scary speeds.

It'* probably best to change the belt but when I went to a 3.4 40,000 miles ago, I didn't change it and have never had any trouble.
