It has to come off to spin the regulator far enough clockwise.

how does it come off, just pop it off like everything else? As you may have guessed by now, I don't do too much in the way of mechanical fixes..

I'm really stuck now. I've got the right side off the sled, but I can't get at the left screw behind the sheet metal.. the right one came off easily with a screwdriver, but there'* no room to get at the left.. so I'm going to try to remove the motor, but first I have to get the wad of styrofoam off... pop it off?

I remember reading some guy here said he'* 192 lbs and threw his weight into trying to get the sled out and still couldn't budge it. The worries me a little since I'm 125 lbs and not very strong. I have little hands tho and that helps reaching around inside the door to get at the sled ...

I'm going to stop at the car shop on the way home from work and see if they can help. I don't have a wide selection of tools...

Bonnie, You're tackling a pretty tough job even for a trained technician. I know it can be frustrating working the interior of an auto door. I give you all the credit, you've done well. Just hang in there, it will all be resolved.

Bonnie if you use a 10mm open end wrench you can get to the other screw. I tis a tight space but it is doable.

Absolutely. The hardest part is getting the door apart and the regulator out.

I didn't have to remove the styrofoam in order to get mine out, but as it is in the way for you there is a plastic pin that is about the same color as the styrofoam. It has a round head and there are ridges on the shaft part of it that pushes through a hole in the door. If you can get behind it and pull it out with wire cutters or pliers, that'* an option. Otherwise, just cut the thing off and you can put it back on later with a plastic tie wrap or similar.

If you can get that motor off, there'* about a 90% chance everything will start to slide free. If you have tried several times since it broke to put the window up and down, then there may be a problem with the cable tangled up inside.

Also, if you can do what San Juan Cruiser suggested, with a small wrench like that, and small hands, you just may be able to get at it.

Edit - Pictures 5 & 6 won't really be necessary to do until it'* time to put things back together.

You may have to buy a complete set, but they will come in handy later. Using that, it will be a lot easier as you won't have to keep taking the wrench off the screw, move it, then struggle to put it back on. Will save you a lot of time and headaches.

I cheated. I stopped at a service station and they yanked it up all the way for me. The window is up and the regulator is free to remove. I'll take it out later and begin the fix on it, after I find something to hold that window up.

Yesterday morning it took the car in to have the tranny checked.... Needs to be rebuilt :( $1800 to $2500

so.... I think I'm done throwing money at my beloved car. It'* got 3 more windows that can go bad. The seat belt wires are loose under the seat, the traction control system is acting up, and I need new tires. To keep the car in good condition, I need to invest $3-4K. Something else will go wrong by the time I fix all that.

So I'm going to trade it in, sorry to say I HAVE to give it up.. "you gotta know when to hold em, and know when to fold 'em"
