Default GM Remote Start

Is there such a thing for our 2000+ Bonne'*?

I know GM has remote start as a option in the new Malibu'*, and has Alarm system kits that you can add to your car, but do they have a nice Remote Start adder that doesn't require 2 days to install, and a hole bunch of cobbling into the wire harness? (That whole theftkey bypass for aftermarket kits sounds like a pain in the arse)

I went to a GM dealer first to find out this same thing. I wanted to add a remote starter
but wanted something that would not void my warrantee. And a system that would allow me to use my remote enter remote so I wouldn't have to carry two remotes.

The dealer advised that they could only add a remote starter and that I would still need a
bypass But I think he said I could use my current remotes. But the cost for the system
would start around $700. And I wouldn't have any problem with my warrantee.

So I decided to go aftermarket. Just like I did on my 99 Malibu. And when my alternator
died, the GM dealer replaced it no questions asked.

As far as I know there is NO OEM Remote Starter package at the present time. With that said, I do know that 2004 Trucks will be getting a factory system pre-installed due to the unique wiring setup these vehicle now have. GM even goes as far to state that NO remote starter will EVEN work in the 2002/03'* trucks because of this wiring setup. I will how ever look into this & report back my findings.

Okay, GM tells me the OEM Remote Starter is still in the designing stage for the cars. The Truck version went through testing & failed, therefore it was scrapped & sent back to the design team once more.

I have friend and co worker with a 2003 Chev silverado duramax diesel with remote start that he removed from his explorer. He had a shop install it, works fine too, he was over tonite and started it from across the house. When he pressed the button nothing happend and he winks "gotta let the glow plugs warm up" then Vroom!
