Default Getting Keyless Entry Fobs????

I just bought a 2000 SLE with keyless entry, but the dealer lost the fobs. What do I need to do in order to getthe new ones? he told me to go to the GM dealer next door to him (i bought from a pre-owned lot) to get the car scanned to see what transmitter we need, and he'll find them for us.

Is there an easier way or should I just do what he says? And will i have to pay for the other dealer to tell me what transmitter I need?

With the loss of your keys, and not having the tranmitters the dealer may be the best route.

The transmitter code, key cutting and all can be retrieved by the dealer with your vin #

The key fobs have to be programmed by the dealer anyway...so, you may as well cover all the bases at the same time...keys, and remote entry.
