I have a 2005 with 90k miles. I had what seemed to be a sending unit problem. Did the change noted on this site and on youtube. Seemed to work for awhile, but now having problems go again. Doesn't do the full cycle across when ignition switch is turned to start position. When it does work gauge is all over the place. Will be accurate sometimes. Hearing what sounds like gears grinding when the gauge moves, if it moves.

Seen references to "stepper motor" problems. Is this a difficult fix?
