Default Front window regulator?

Hi all, I'm new here. My name is Jake.

My 2000 Bonneville'* front passenger window stopped working a while ago. Most of the time it doesn't work at all (although if it'* quiet you can hear the relay clicking), but tonight I was mindlessly fiddling with the switch and it went down about six inches. Crap!

I tried to put it back up, and it went up about two inches, made a loud clunk, and stopped. I could hear a whirring motor for a second or two after that.

So, obviously, the window regulator is blown.

I've done a bunch of searching here and on other sites, and as far as I can tell, it'* usually the rear regulators that break. Am I missing something? The "common problems" sticky doesn't say anything about front regulators.

Anyway, I need a new one. I'm pretty competent under the hood and handy in general, but I've looked at the door panel and I don't even see how to get the dang thing off! Do I need some sort of special tool?

Also, where should I buy a replacement regulator, and what should I expect to pay? I usually go to AutoZone, but their website indicates that they don't even carry Bonneville window regulators.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Now I see an ad on my thread for a Grand Prix regulator for $45. Are they the same?

I had problems with my passenger side rear regulator and started a thread about one I found for $112 with a lifetime warranty. if you decide to just replace it, do a search for my thread
