Final Front End Noise Diagnosis
Well, I finally tracked down the source of the front end noise on my SSEi. The "new" wheel hub bearings that I bought from Advance Auto Parts were causing all of the noise. After taking the car to the allignment shop, the tech there told me he had experienced new faulty wheel bearing assemblies on a handful of occasions. I feel kind of dumb now because changing out the bearing would have been so easy, but I never thought about a new bearing being the problem. Anyway, last night I took out the new bearing on the drivers side and put one of the old original hubs in its place to see if the noise would change. Wouldn't you know it, it eliminated %90 of the noise I was complaining about. The other %10 I attribute to the new Advance Auto hub that is still installed on the passenger side. Moral of the story is, don't try to save money on major suspension parts, insist on original equipment or better.
