Default eng running hot

I have a 2001 ssei super charge.I'am starting to have a overheat problem. It was running 180.I flushed out the radiator and put new antifreeze in it(the right kind). Now its running 200+.I don't see no water dripping from the water pump. When I was flushing the radiator. The eng was running. The water was going in and out of the top and the drain on the bottom of the radiator. The temp was 180.What temp. does these cars run at?Without hurting it.
Before I did all the flushing it got to 240 degrees And the warning light came on and shut the A/C down. Then I pulled over for a while. With the heater on for a couple minutes. It was running at 200 to 210 while I was riding 65 mph.Could this be a thermostat problem?

If the coolant is going threw the thermostat is not stuck closed. Is it possible you have air in the system. But that should work threw after a while. When you installed the 180 did you have your PCM reprogramed for this? If not the fans wont come on until it'* around 200.

The stock thermostat is 195 so running 200 to 210 is about right. 240 is a bit high.

That is what the parts store told me to.It takes a 195 degree thermostat. And it is running 200 degrees right not.I guess it wouldn't hurt to put a new thermostat in it.Thanks for the help.

200-210 is fine with the stocker in there. as dan said getting a 180 is fine but unless you get a reprogrammed ecu or put the fans on a switch it'* not going to do any good.also there is a reason why the engineers at gm put in a 195 and not a 180.

good luck!
