Ok, I know the rear window regulators are junk in these cars, but I didnt find any info about the driver'* window, just the passenger side. Anyway, the window opens and closes just fine, but makes a grinding noise going down but not up.....weird....motor problem? something else? any ideas?

Also, after about 15k miles, I am having the dealer replace the new replacement intermediate shaft....guess the "new" ones arent any better than the original ones....GM foots this bill again!! LMAO!

I've had my car for 14 months now, and other than the shaft issue, I havent had any problems with my beloved bonne. (KNOCKS ON SOLID WOOD!) I dont count brakes, tuneups, and tires as problems....every car has to have those things taken care of. It has 50k miles on it as of today. I am sooooo glad I bought this car. I have NEVER EVER in my life had a car that didnt have any MAJOR or EXPENSIVE problems occur for an entire year!!! WOOHOO!!

Now I just need to find someone to do a thorough cleaning of the entire car and wax it......any volunteers?? I pay well.....

Sounds like you may have some MN sand in your window tract......**** sucks I hate this state in the winter.

Deb, I've had the exact same problem for the past year. It requires removal of door panel & water deflector to gain access to window drive motor which to me is not worth the trouble. If it fails completely then I have no choice, but I've decided to live with it. A few other problems can result from disturbing the door panel & water deflector. To my knowledge the window motors are non-serviceable. In other words they can not be lubricated. Maybe some one can back me up on this, or tell me different.

For the most part, the motor assembly is impractical to service. I took one apart sorta by accident (started removing the wrong part...once I started I decided to continue). The gear assembly is pretty much sealed up. Once the motor section is removed, you may be able to spray some lithium grease or some other lubricant in there. You may even able to pry it apart. I decided not to try.

The motor itself is the standard small DC motor, with tiny brushes and even tinier springs. I had a heck of a time keeping track of where they were. The springs for the brushes are the type that look like an open safety pin. Standard "lifetime lubricated" bushings are there too. Those could take a drop of oil in them, but if they're going, it would likely be a short-lived fix. Besides, many would follow the "if a little is good, more is better" and use too much oil which could cause problems by getting on the brushes and armature. Getting everything back together, holding the brushes out of the way with dental picks while sliding the armature back in, which wants to get grabbed by the magnets, etc....taxed my patience, which I'm in short supply of at times.

To me, it'* not worth the effort just because of noise...and if it went all together, I'd probably check out the cost of a junkyard unit.

I bought an extended warranty so the dealer can replace the motor and shaft and the tranny thingy...I forget now what it is called LMAO....for $100.

EDIT: pressure control solenoid maybe....
